Bills v. Dallas
October 9, 2007You know, I’m not as upset about the Bills loss to Dallas as some people are. Maybe its because I missed a portion of the game while watching Heroes (why yes, I do have a DVR, but when you have a 1045 staff meeting the next morning to discuss the show one must be prepared.). But still, when the MSM had practically called this game a blow out before the game even started, there’s a particular karmic justice in that the Bills only lost by one point.
The defense played phenomenally, which is a pretty big deal, considering most of the D is made up of “who’re you again?” type players. I loved the fake punt from Moorman; he was so excited afterwards. Trent Edwards looks to be a sold NFL quarterback, who just needs some time to grow (and JP is probably shitting bricks over losing his starting job). I’m proud of how the entire team played, when really, they could have just phoned it in and let Dallas put the W in the column automatically. Instead, they made them work for it.
I also love how Buffalo as a city totally embraced this game. People were tailgating at the Ralph starting on Sunday (and I would be willing to bet there’s a lot of people that called in late to work today). Thurman Thomas was on hand to get his Hall of Fame ring, Jim Kelly unveiled two new Carvings for a Cause statues (of himself and Chris Berman – sweet!). ESPN did a good job of showcasing the beauty of the city on the commercial bumpers. All in all, it was a great way for the Bills to return to the Monday Night stage.
I loved seeing Thurman Thomas and Jim Kelly. Two Hall of Famers who either never left Buffalo (Kelly) or left and found his way back (Thomas).
