Things That Are Good

September 9, 2008

– It was a nice, cool early fall day in Buffalo today. Its the kind of day that makes you want to curl up with a blanket, a pillow, a good book and maybe a nice cup of soup. Its the kind of day where you don’t want to be the good little worker bee that you are. But the day was made infinitely better by the announcement that the fantasy hockey league I’ve joined has been set up and registration opened. Now for the next week or so, I will be busy weeding out the Eastern Conference players and ranking my Western Conference ones (and maybe reading up on some of these guys). This is only the second time I’ve played fantasy hockey, and I really want to improve on last year’s 5th place finish. Look out league, here come The Little Honkers.

– Paul Gaustad was the subject of today’s photo gallery on Sabres.com. I’ve seen a lot of the shots before, but there’s two that really stand out for me.

I don’t know what’s better…the look of intense concentration on Goose’s face, or the fact that Pommers appears to be stifling a yawn or a sneeze.

If I didn’t know any better, I would swear that this photo was snapped on the “you” part of a “fuck you.” This photo also has an extremely rare Mike Ryan sighting.

– I’m also encouraged by the fact that both Sabres management and Pomminville’s agent are saying that offers and counter offers have been made and talks are still going well. It still sounds like both sides still want to get a deal done before camp. One rumor site even said that this deal could be the one that finally includes the mythical five-for-twenty-five offer. How awesome would that be if it was?

  1. No way. 5 for 25? What a ridiculous deal. No such contract EXISTS. hahaha.

I loved those pictures of Goose. I too saw the “you” of a “fuck you” and laughed. I was going to post some of those, but I don’t want to be a copy cat so I guess I won’t hahaha.

  2. Yay for the Goose! I saw him today getting some tea at Spot Coffee!

  3. As someone who used to work at the Elmwood store; he loves the Pomegranate tea.

  4. AAAAAAHAHAHA! Goose is totally saying “Fuck you”. Nice catch, Amy!

  5. I love how Pommer just randomly appears alongside Goose in many of his pictures. That one is by far the best, though. Poor Jason, it looks like someone missed naptime!

  6. bbc, it’s really hockey time now that we’re having Sabres sightings. And pomegranate tea sounds delightful on a nice chilly morning like this one.

Katie, did you see the one in the gallery of Goose and Pommer sitting in the stands watching a practice? It could be proof that these two really are lost without each other when hockey is involved.

  7. I had to tell my kids that it looked like Goose was saying, “Shut up.” LOL
